National Trust Significant Trees cut down at Redwood Forest – Upper Yarra Mail 16 July 2018

Parks Victoria cut down 34 of the trees (Pinus Muricata) that were on the National Trust List of Significant Trees. This was done to make way for a car park. It is in the Warburton Mountain Bike Feasibility Study that the Redwoods are proposed to be a ‘Trailhead’ for mountain bikers with a car park, signage and toilet facilities. Trails are proposed that three trails will go from the Redwoods to Warburton, Big Pat’s Creek and O’Shannassy Aqueduct. There is also a proposed trail right through the middle of the Redwoods themselves.
